Ray Kelm is a seasoned engineering professional with over 35 years of experience in mechanical design, analysis, and numerical modeling, troubleshooting of mechanical equipment.
Most of his work has focused on the analysis and troubleshooting of rotating and reciprocating machinery, including compressors, turbines, motors, and gearboxes.
Ray’s extensive work in dealing with pipe vibration control issues within the oil & gas and petrochemical industries lead him to start the research and development for a simpler, safer and more effective damping solution —and the launch of ZetaQuest in 2020.
Ray is also owner and chief engineer for Kelm Engineering, which he launched in 1999. His team works with a variety of industrial, oil & gas operators.
Ray holds numerous professional credentials and affiliations, including:
- ASME Member since 1984
- Vibration Institute (ISO) Certified Category IV Vibration Analyst
Ray is a frequent speaker at engineering association conferences, and has authored multiple papers related to vibration analysis. He is also an experienced expert witness providing analysis and review of machinery and equipment failure, sound and vibration levels, and improper design structures.
Ray is a graduate of Texas A&M University with a BSME in Mechanical Engineering, and he holds his MSME in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering from the University of Virginia.
